The discreet and easily accessible pen pocket gives The Brace a nice utilitarian detail.
The chain stitch runoff found on the side gussets is an interesting detail and a nod to vintage shirts. Early workwear shirts were made with authentic high-quality sewing machines that produced this run-off effect when finished. These would usually get cut off in production but were occasionally missed. Vintage collectors would find these rarities and they became highly sought after, not only for their rarity but because it was a true sign a shirt was made using authentic vintage sewing machines. We make Kato work shirts following the footsteps of these vintage treasures and the chain stitch runoff is a testament to its quality and heritage. You can choose to wear them with pride or cut them off with no compromise in durability.
The Brace Shirt in Velour Knit is made from a unique knit fabric with a velvety finish. Because it is a knit, we can add a bit of stretch for comfort and mobility which is not possible with hides or other similar non-knit materials.
